Fernando Alonso has announced the joyous news of the birth of his first child with partner Melissa Jimenez. Speaking to DAZN on Friday at the Japanese Grand Prix, Alonso confirmed the happy event, which occurred approximately a week prior. His delayed arrival at the Japanese GP, where he skipped media day, was due to this significant personal development.
Addressing the ‘super happy, very special moment,’ Alonso reassured that both the mother and baby ‘are fine.’ He reflected on the experience, stating, “You never really imagine anything in particular, right? Everything comes as it comes, and… well, with a bit of stress and worry that everything would go well. It went well. Fortunately, both the mother and the baby are fine, and yeah, very happy. A super happy, very special moment, and now, back to work.”
This child marks Alonso’s first, while it is Jimenez’s fourth, as she has three children from a previous relationship. Alonso now joins the ranks of other fathers on the 2026 F1 grid, including Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez, and Max Verstappen. Other notable recent F1 fathers include Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastian Vettel, Kevin Magnussen, Romain Grosjean, and Felipe Massa.
