delivering results and matching Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari,
according to a RacingNews365 poll. The result will sting, but it
reflects a growing unease with the Monégasque’s 2026 campaign.
While Hamilton sits second in the championship on 115 points,
having already taken his maiden Ferrari victory in Barcelona,
Leclerc languishes 40 points behind in fourth after a run of costly
errors that have undermined what should be a better campaign. The
numbers are damning. Two retirements in two races heading into the
summer stretch, a last-lap spin from a podium position in Miami and
a qualifying crash at his home race in Monaco have left Leclerc
facing serious questions. Barcelona was perhaps the most painful
of all, as a snap of oversteer in Q3 sent him into the barriers and
left him starting 10th before another retirement followed in the
race. “I knew it was a weakness. I knew I had to make everything
perfect for that lap. And I tried, but I obviously regret it,”
Leclerc admitted afterwards. The 30.9% who voted that Leclerc is
“absolutely fine” will point to his early-season podiums in
Australia and Japan, plus his reported edge over Hamilton in sprint
races. But the trend is moving sharply in the wrong direction, and
with Hamilton proving at 41 that the SF-26 is capable of winning,
the spotlight on Leclerc’s side of the garage will only intensify.
