Helmut Marko responds Max Verstappen Red Bull exit clause

Helmut Marko has weighed in on the performance-related exit clause
that reportedly exists in Max Verstappen’s Red Bull contract.
Verstappen has endured a challenging start to the current season
with just one podium finish in the opening seven rounds of the
campaign. It has placed fresh speculation on the future of the
four-time champion, with talks between Verstappen and Red Bull set
to continue this weekend. Red Bull is keen to secure assurances
that Verstappen will remain at the team next year and continue the
partnership that has run for over 10 years. Marko, who departed Red
Bull at the end of 2025, has stated that Verstappen’s priority will
be getting hold of a car that can compete at the front of the
field. “For him, competitiveness always comes first,” Marko told
Kronen Zeitung .  “All top drivers have performance-based exit
clauses in their contracts. Discussions are likely taking place on
that front right now.  “It would be best if an agreement could be
reached quickly.” The season has largely been controlled thus far
by Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, who has won five out of the opening
four races. The form of the Italian has surprised Marko, who
stated: “He also started strong last year, but then made a lot of
mistakes when the European part of the season began.  “This time,
he’s impressive and really fast. That’s what people want to see.”
