Der Mercedes-Entwicklungsfahrer Joshua Dürksen hat sein klares Ziel für seine Karriere enthüllt: In allen großen Motorsport-Meisterschaften anzutreten, unabhängig vom Fahrzeugtyp. Dürksen tritt derzeit für Invicta Racing in der Formel 2 an und sicherte sich im letzten Monat in Australien den Sieg im ersten Sprintrennen der Saison.
Das nächste Rennen des Paraguayers steht erst im nächsten Monat bei der Premiere der F2 in den Vereinigten Staaten in Miami an. Zuvor sammelte er jedoch vor einigen Wochen Erfahrungen bei einem Rookie-Test für Citroën in der Formel E in Madrid. Anfang des Jahres stieß er zu Mercedes und wird an TPC-Tests (Testing of Previous Cars) für die “Silberpfeile” teilnehmen, was seine erste Begegnung mit einem Formel-1-Auto wäre.
Mit 22 Jahren beginnt Dürksen, seine nächsten Karriereschritte über die Formel 2 hinaus zu planen, da 2026 sein drittes Jahr in der Nachwuchsserie sein wird. Im Gespräch mit talkSPORT sagte Dürksen: “Um ehrlich zu sein, ich bin ein Rennfahrer. Ich liebe es, jedes Auto zu fahren. Mein Ziel im Leben ist es, in allen Kategorien anzutreten.”
“Ich liebe es wirklich, neue Dinge zu erleben – neue Teams, neue Autos, neue Fahrweisen und neue Strecken. Ich möchte einfach die volle Erfahrung des Motorsports machen”, fügte er hinzu. “Und so gibt es sicher viele gute Möglichkeiten, besonders jetzt mit [der Formel E] Gen4. Es wird ein erstaunliches Auto sein, von dem, was ich gehört habe, und es wird viel schneller sein. Ich denke, es wird einfach viel aufregender.”
Für Dürksens Karriere ist keine Kategorie tabu, mit dem klaren Ziel, vor seinem Karriereende an so vielen Meisterschaften wie möglich teilzunehmen – sogar an der Rallye Dakar. Auf die Frage nach seinen favorisierten Kategorien antwortete Dürksen: “In Bezug auf Kategorien würde ich natürlich gerne in der Formel 1, Formel E und IndyCar fahren.”
“Ich würde gerne an der WEC-Meisterschaft teilnehmen, ebenso wie an GT-Rennen und Rallyes. Ich möchte auch bei der Dakar Rennen fahren”, erklärte er.
Mercedes driver reveals ‘target in life’ as no category off-limits
Mercedes development driver Joshua Dürksen has revealed his clear ambition for his career: to compete in all major motorsport championships, regardless of the type of car. Dürksen currently races for Invicta Racing in Formula 2 and secured victory in the season’s opening sprint race last month in Australia.
The Paraguayan’s next race isn’t until F2’s debut in the United States next month in Miami, but he did make a Formula E rookie test appearance for Citroën in Madrid a couple of weeks ago. He joined Mercedes at the start of the year and is set to participate in TPC (Testing of Previous Cars) tests for the Silver Arrows, which would mark his first experience with F1 machinery.
At 22 years old, Dürksen is beginning to look ahead to his next career moves beyond F2, with 2026 set to be his third year in the junior series. Discussing his future with talkSPORT, Dürksen said: “To be honest, I’m a racing driver. I love to drive any car. My target in life is to compete in all categories.”
“I really love experiencing new things—new teams, new cars, new ways of driving, and new tracks. I just want to have the full experience of motorsport,” he added. “And so, for sure, there are many good opportunities, especially now with [Formula E’s] Gen4. It’s going to be an amazing car, from what I’ve heard, and it’s going to be a lot quicker. I think it’s just going to be a lot more exciting.”
No category is off-limits for Dürksen’s career, with his clear target being to compete in as many championships as possible before he retires—even the Dakar Rally. Revealing which categories he has his eye on, Dürksen said: “So, in terms of categories, of course, I would love to drive in Formula 1, Formula E, and IndyCar.”
“I would love to compete in the WEC championship, as well as in GT racing and rallying. I also want to race in the Dakar,” he stated.
